Austin Ice Bats, Austin Toros, Austin Wranglers, Round Rock Express

  • Austinice bats:- A minor-league ice hockey team, Austin Ice Bats is based in Austin. Austin Ice Bats was established in 1996 and affiliated with the Central Hockey League.

    The team played home games in Luedecke Arena at the Travis County Exposition Center that is a multi-purpose building furnished with skating ice and dubbed the "Bat Cave" for the games.

    On February 15, 2006, the Ice Bats announced they would move from the Expo Center to Chaparral Ice for future seasons. Chaparral Ice is near to Austin's border with neighboring Pflugerville.

    The team has drafted J.F. Picard, Aaron Wilson and Damir Brujic for the 2006-07 season. Picard was part of the Memphis team that won the President's Cup championship in 2002.

  • Austin Toros:- A NBA Development League basketball team, Austin Toros is based in Austin, Texas. The Austin Toros are the city's newest sports franchise. The team plays home games at the Austin Convention Center, a multipurpose convention center with a seating capacity of 3,200 located in Austin, Texas.

    The logo of the Austin Toros comprises of a blue bull and red basketball with the State of Texas in the background, outlined in gold. Austin Toros staff, players, & coaches have involved in a number of programs that include the Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers/Sisters, Austin ISD, Day of Caring and many others.

    The team began to play during the 2005-2006 season. The Toros wears uniform of red, blue, and gold. The Austin Toros is the only NBA-associated team and first D-League team to possess a nickname of Spanish origin. Dennis Johnson is the head coach of the team.

  • Austin Wranglers:- The Austin Wranglers is an American football team based in Austin, Texas. The Austin Wranglers have been a part of the Arena Football League since the 2004 season. The team plays home games at the Frank Erwin Center which is situated in the campus area of University of Texas.

    During 2004 regular season the team began to play and accumulated an 8-8 record with John Kaleo who were former the champions of Arena Bowl. Their season ended with little disappointment as they failed to qualify for the playoffs.

    During 2004 off season the Wranglers drafted QB John Fitzgerald, OS Ira Gooch and ex All-Rookie teamer OL/DL Bryan Henderson. Again 2005 season ended with disappointment with 6-10 record.

    On May 7th, 2006, the team win over the Grand Rapids Rampage and won their first playoff game. But soon they were defeated by the Philadelphia Soul and eliminated from the playoffs.

    The Wranglers official mascot is a horse named Trigger. The Austin Wrangler Foundation is the non profit  organization of  Austin Wranglers aimed at serving the Capital Area Youth.

  • Round Rock Express:- The Round Rock Express is a minor league baseball franchise from Round Rock that is a suburb of Austin, Texas. The team plays home games at Dell Diamond Stadium. The Dell Diamond is considered as the No. 1 ballpark in the country out of more than 200 parks according to the Fifth Annual Minor League News rankings.

    The team was founded in 1999 and plays in the Pacific Coast League as the Class AAA affiliate of the Houston Astros. Nolan Ryan who is a Hall of Fame pitcher and Texas native hold express franchise and his sons Reid and Reese hold executive positions.

    In 2003, The Ryan’s' group purchased the PCL Edmonton Trappers franchise. In 2005 regular season the Round Rock Express contained a mixture of players from the 2004 New Orleans Zephyrs and the 2004 Round Rock Express.
